Just as I was about to start my communication training, the phone rang. Again. Same number that’s been calling for weeks. I usually ignore it. But for no real reason, I picked up.
It was a guy from a telecom company, offering me some service. Nothing special at first glance. But the way he spoke, he had it. Steady voice, no fluff, just clean, confident delivery. I let him finish, then told him straight up: “You’re good at this. How did you learn to sell like that?”
He didn’t brush it off. He started talking. Told me how he had a coach in the US, how he tried to break into that market, but got left behind quick. No mercy there, he said. If you don’t bring results, you're out. Simple as that.
It hit me again. This world is brutal, but damn, I love the game. The intensity. The pressure. The way it forces you to grow or step aside.
I told him I believed in him. That he’s got the voice, the presence, and that if he keeps sharpening his edge, he’ll make it to the top.
Didn’t take the service. But I think we both got something out of it.
That quick exchange reminded me why I show up every day. It’s all a game. Fast, raw, and full of potential if you’re willing to lean in. Even a cold call can turn into a moment that sticks.
